No. Cats do not have a 'need' to be let outside. It might take a period of adjustment (it took about a year with a rescued ex-outdoor cat I own), but the cat will be perfectly happy and fulfilled indoors.If you love your cat you are only putting them at risk to various things by letting them outside (other cats, automobiles, other animals, diseases, etc). Keeping them inside will protect them from all of those things and after they adjust the cats will be just as happy indoors as out.
