I recently had to put down my wonderful Missy. She was, we think, 12-15 years old. We had her for about 8-9 years, but prior to that, she had been hanging around our house for about 3-4 years. We finally took her in on a permanant basis. We took her to the vet, and had all her tests and shots, and she was very loving.
We will miss her dearly.
I had a siamese cat. It was dumped by my cousin, whom I do not associate with anymore. He was about 5 years old. A seal point siamese. Tan with the dark brown outlines. I found out the hard way that siamese cats are prone to kidney disease. We gave him sub qutanious fluids every other day for the last year of his life, and when that was not working anymore, we had to let him go to the rainbow bridge. He was also loosing weight, and we did not want to see him suffer. His name was Moegley. This was a year ago, and I still miss him very much.
The way I cope with loosing a cat is, when I take them to the vet to have them put to sleep, I stay in the room and talk and pet him while he goes to the Rainbow Bridge. It gives me piece of mind, and my cats know that their mommy really loved them enough to let them go. I am always the last thing that they see.
