I cannot imagine what you are going through. I am so sorry. I remember one time that one of our cats didn't come when called to come in for the night. We called and called him and there was no sign of him. I couldn't sleep the entire night wondering where he could be. I kept getting up and going to the porch every hour checking to see if he was there and calling him. The next day, my mom and I went around the neighborhood looking for him. When we were talking to one of the neighbors, he came darting out of the woods. He had been there all night in the rain. When I saw him, I started crying. That was for only one night, so I cannot imagine what it would be like if they were missing for more than one day.

My cat did the same thing too his name was creamy
when i was shifting to another house he was very angry to see where the furniture were going. When we where shifted to another house he was very angry
and went outside. when we came back to our old house and we took some stuff
he came moaning with a bleeding paw i tried to take care of him and soon the bleeding stop and my father said that you can't have one kitten in our house again then we left him there then we came back get some more stuff then he had disapered and never to be seen again like they really do left us so they can go and die
i was thinking when i red this topic do they go and i somewhere else so we can't see there dead body and be sad? think about it.

FluffyCuffy..I do not think they go away so we cannot see them..but who knows how a cat thinks. I think if they have a hurt foot, or a bad ear..they will come to us , because they know we can help them...but maybe they know when we cannot help them anymore they just want to go lay down and rest ( and avoid a trip to the vet that they know will not help them)...They appear in our lives, and when their journeys are over, they go their own way...after have giving us much love, and things to think about.....
