More Sad News I received sad news about a week ago concerning some kitties I once had. Heckle & Jeckle were born on Memorial Day 1988. They were "tuxedo cats," that is, black with white bibs and boots, although their mother was a Siamese. They were named after the cartoon magpie characters, as they were mischievous together, always into doors and drawers if they could get them open. I called them The Lads after the two Great Danes (Zeus & Apollo) that were always threatening Thomas Magnum in the TV series Magnum, P.I., as that's what Higgins affectionately referred to them as. When I had to move to Seattle to seek work in 2002 I had to put them up for adoption, along with their buddy Little Pink. The Lads were adopted by a local woman, Martha, who cherished them until they died in October and December 2006 respectively. They had it good their 18+ years of life, blessed with health and love and each others companionship. It must be karma that they died within 2 months of each other. Martha kept me informed of their lives occaisionally, with letters and photos, and she hesitated to inform me of their deaths until recently because she knew it'd be upsetting - which it has been. 2006 was a bad year, what with the disappearance of Mehitabel in May and the death of Mister Tips in June. And 2007 has started off with me having to euthanize Cocktail. Pictures of Heckle, Jeckle, Mehitabel and Mister Tips have been posted. Unfortunately I never had the time to get photos of Cocktail.
