The journey of the gentle giants – chapter four - the arrival part 1

Browncollar was already one while on the way. Everything had to be controlled and it had new markings to set. The districts of the cats were smaller than those the tomcat, but here in the forest still rather large. Their kitten from the last year had captured own districts and had so them for nobody more to provide. Everything in the district was like that, as it should be. Thus it wanted to meet later with some other cats at the meeting point. The meeting point lay deeply in the forest and it was a long distance there. Against evening, after repeated district control, it made itself on the way. Now it had to be careful, because she now was outside of her district. The night was more starlit, and in the sky a narrow moon sickle showed up. Quite a while it had already run, when she heard a quiet whimper. Such a noise had not ever heard it. Curiously, like all cats, it crept against the noise, always ready, to flee or fight. But which saw it then, it surprised nevertheless much. On a heap of old sheets from the previous year was a young fox. Now the cats went to the foxes out of the way, because nobody could forecast, how a fight with a fox went out. But this was here obviously suffer or injured. Carefully Browncollar crept more near. The fox saw it now and began again too whimper. Brown collar sniffed. No, after illness he smelled not, she would have withdrawn herself otherwise immediately. It smelled like blood. Then she saw it. At a back paw of the fox the skin was completely torn off and from the muscles lay exposed. The fox must have terrible pain. In addition there was a second wound on the back. It was small and round. What had happened to the fox? Like a fight the injuries did not look, at least could do them no animal, which could cause someone such injuries. It sat simply there and looked at the fox. It was small, still very young. It was not quietly become in the forest, except the occasional whimper of the fox was noise to be heard. It reminded somehow the fox of young cats and thus began it carefully to lick it the small wound. The fox let it happen. How long it was like that with the fox, she did not know, when she suddenly heard a noise. It turned the head after the noise and saw Silverpaw. Silverpaw had its district beside the their and was probably on the way to the meeting point. Also it had been attracted by the whimper. They did not know the language of the foxes. Since they hardly met, they did not know to interpret the foxes. What meant these or that view? The attitude and movement of the tail? The attitude of the ears and the head? Did they know „the silence language “? At least the latter seemed to be excluding a thing of the cats. They met at their meeting points and sat apparently calmly there. Meanwhile they exchanged their thoughts. If everything was said, they scattered themselves again. Nobody had observed with other animals, from there did not believe Browncollar not that foxes were in addition able. In addition the fox was injured. Perhaps it wanted to communicate something and could it only not. But Browncollar and Silverpaw knew, if a new danger had emerged there, had from it as fast as possible all other knowledge to receive. What thus do? They decided the fact that Browncollar remain with the fox and to the meeting point and report on the find should go to Silverpaw. For a long time before the dawn it arrived there. There was a considerable excitement. They all knew the dangers of the forest and knew with it to deal. But the injuries of the fox were from a kind, which they could not do and which perhaps represented a new danger. Their only friends were the otters, therefore someone would have to go to advice to them, perhaps knew it. Silverpaw should return together with Hisser and Blackmark to Browncollar and the fox. The sun did not stand yet in the zenith, when they arrived there. Hisser had gotten and pushed on the way a rodent that, when they arrived there, toward the fox. The tried to snatch at it but only as it the rodent directly before the lip pushed, caught it to bite on. It had to be completely weak. Sooner or later it would need also water, but the cats did not know, how they could bring that here. Over the treetops the sun shined, it looked not like rains, therefore the fox would also this way not come at water. But also without water the fox came a little to forces. To be afraid were now few, because were now four cats, which held with the fox guard. They tried to find out something from it, but much was not it. Only that the whole thing had to do something with humans and beavers. The fox was still many more communicative, but they did not understand it.
In the meantime bundles and a tooth had arrived after a long night migration with the otters. The otter family lived in the end a deep gorge, where a brook widened itself to a small lake. After joyful greetings bundles and a tooth tried to find out whether the otters could help, or whether they knew something about a new danger. The otters would not help the cats, but under any circumstances a fox. But they knew rumors that with the beavers lately strange things proceeded. Bundle created it that it otter-unite indications of the fox language showed. Naturally it nevertheless some not to understand, that fox was injured. On the next day a tooth as well as an otter opened itself, in order to find beavers. In addition they needed to follow only the brook. The otter was most time in the water, while a tooth on the bank beside-ran. Only on the next day they found a building of beavers.
Meanwhile bundle had returned to the fox and the four guard cats. With much trouble and bundle new knowledge of the fox language they experienced a little more. „ground biter “, „bang pain “and „beaver human being “was what they found out. Above all they wanted to find out "beaver human" being, over it more, but was not sufficient the communication possibilities between the fox and the cats.
In the meantime to inform itself tried a tooth and the otters with the beaver family. The beavers were interested not much and let themselves when their occupation, which repairing and renewing their dams hardly disturb. But the few that they experienced, startled the tomcat and the otter quite. There something was from a new danger, which had emerged recently in the forests and many beavers were pleased which to the victim already.
There was the speech of terrible invisible dentures, which were hidden in the ground, of a stick or a branch, which killed slamming, and it was the speech of a beaver human being. No, no Skaerlingar, something like this mysterious beaver people had seen someone never before. A tooth was completely excited. No Skaerlingar! And except the Skaerlingar there were no other humans here. To so long time had the Vikings returned nevertheless? A tooth had as fast as possible to the meeting point. He said good-bye to the otter and makes themselves as soon as possible on the way.
Meanwhile was the fox somewhat better. In the morning a light drizzle had begun, from which the fox liked, so much it gotten could. And completely slowly, also by the welfare service of the cats, its injuries began to heal. He tried sometime to rise and run a few steps. It succeeded to it reasonablly and it limped. From then on it was called by the cats Limper. Limper remained with the cats and with the time understood it its language. He learned also something from the cat language, only „the silence language “remained locked for it. Even to hunt it could hardly still, but Browncollar took care of its as if he would be their son. And for a long time the cats on its meetings history still told themselves the fox of Limper. Thus the cats experienced also finally, what had actually happened.
Limper had been in the search for something edible one. It had often alone on the way been still young and not very. Usually it had remained in the building with its brothers and sisters. But the curiosity had chased away it nevertheless sometime a piece. There was so much to discover. And after some time it got very easy hunger. But was there an enticing smell, which it followed. It sniffed by the undergrowth the promising smell against. There directly before it had to be. It wanted to sniff just more near to it, than he was startled by cracking branches. It drove, there happened everything around at once. Something snatched with enormous strength from the forest floor and only the circumstance that it had turned because of cracking, prevented that the thing in the ground killed it immediately. But black teeth had completely torn the skin at a back paw from it off. It was like that in panic that he felt no pain and only ran away.
There he saw humans. It looked completely differently than the forest people, who were called by the cats Skaerlingar. It wore hair in the face and strangely seeming clothes. It was strangest that on its head a beaver sat. The all noticed Limper, when it ran away laterally. Then there was a bang and an impact met it in the back. It estimated itself, broke through an undergrowth and tumbled somewhere down. On a heap of leaves he came to the peace. Before the undergrowth he heard steps, but to see he could not do anything. Then it became quiet and it fell asleep before exhaustion. As it awaked, had it terrible pain. It began after its mother too whimper. Then it lay finally quietly. It became night and it began again too whimper. Thus final Browncollar found it. Limper's of experiences brought hardly light in the darkness, rather placed themselves the cats still to more questions.

The journey of the gentle giants – chapter four - the arrival part 2

In any case they now very much, very watchful would be. Several full moons passed, but the beaver human being was not any longer sighted. But there were nevertheless again and again reports over the ground biter and killed animals, mostly beavers, in addition, and the whole made large bears more than ever dangerously. But then, when the short autumn had begun already, the cats discovered the beaver human being. Gripper dozed before itself. It had made good booty in the morning and had earned themselves a nap. From its hiding place it had a good overview, without to be seen. In the evening it wanted to visit Winterrun. It had its district in the proximity and Gripper smelled that she would shortly become in heat. There it was valid to be and a place secure themselves as the first locally.
But it was only noon and Gripper wanted some more to rest and forces collect. Despite its apparently total leaving its fine ears seized that somewhat approached. It was still far and Gripper could the noise only not arrange. Then he saw it. In one lower below his hiding place stood a human. And it was completely clearly no Skaerlingar! The forest people looked completely differently. It smelled also that the foreigner a man was. The man stood there and looked around, as if he would look for something. And the reports were correct, on its head sat or lay a beaver.
From the security of its hiding place Gripper observed a driving of the beaver human being exactly. The beaver had not agitated itself up to now. There Gripper recognized that was not a living beaver, but only the skin of a beaver, which humans on the head carried. He knew from the old narrations that Leif Erikson and its Vikings had also often had headgears, but these had been from iron or leather. To which a headgear from beaver skin should be good, was puzzling the tomcat. In the hand the man had a long stick, which widened itself at an end. It put and got that now on the ground something out of the other side of its clothes, which had been hidden Gripper so far. But it recognized it immediately now. The ground biter! Gripper knew, what iron was, although it had not gotten it ever to face. In the old narrations the Vikings had iron used, also as weapon. And the ground biter consisted of iron. Gripper knew, against a weapon from iron could no animal protect themselves and nothing at all from it not align. It had to report completely fast to the next meeting point and all different one of it. However only the cats could themselves furnish on it, all other animals knew the iron and its danger not. But it awaited for the time being for a start. The man had hidden meanwhile the ground biter with obvious effort curious and under leaves and branches. And exactly on the way, many animals each morning used over for the brook and thus to drink to arrive. Sooner or later an animal became, all the same to which kind, into this insidious trap fell. Now the man was again in the forest disappeared and only from a distance heard Gripper still its steps. Gripper left its hiding place and brought it to the place closer, in which the man had hidden the ground biter. He did not need to be afraid anything, because he had seen, how and where the trapper had hidden the ground biter. It began to mark the trap and their environment extensively. No other animal became now still in-gropes. Except the otters other animals hardly got the cats to face, but they knew the smell. They did not view it as danger or booty, but especially as district marking, which one should go around. And in such a way they would evade the trap and some steps beside it their way would rather go. Gripper made itself now on the way to the next meeting point. It crossed Winterrun's district, which followed it.
Only early in the morning they reached a meeting point. Nobody was waited it there and in such a way simply. Only on evening arrived as first Snoopers, Stonescratches and Greeneye. In the middle in the night then already many had come and to Gripper reported its observations. All this happened in „the silence language “. Then they knew, what was to be done. They would observe and if they somewhere discovered a trap, they would mark these and the environment of it much, very extensively. Thus it happened that in the following time less and less animals turned out into the traps. Although the animals did not know, begun from small tree inhabitants to the large bears, they had to owe this assistance to whom, spread soon the rumor of „good wandering of the forest “or „invisibly the protecting “. Only the otters knew, who had caused all this, but she would keep it for itself.
Two winters had gone now into the country, when Limper died. It had become never very large, because even to hunt he could not correctly. Therefore it was dependent on that, what brought it Browncollar at booty. Lately healed wound on its back had again to hurt begun and it became worse. Browncollar so often was with it, as it was possible their. It could not move nearly any longer and it licked it the skin. Often they slept closely snuggled in a hiding place. On that afternoon they rested under a over-hanging rock. That had grown over to drying with soft moss and. Suddenly Browncollar noticed that Limper breathed more heavily than otherwise. It turned the head and licked it the ears. Limper looked at it gratefully, then twitching over its body and its view ran broke. Browncollar sniff at it and began then, it too massage him with her paws. But Limper did not agitate itself any longer.
The remaining day and the following night sat Browncollar beside the liveless body. Thus she found to Greeneye. But also it could not induce Browncollar to leave their place. The sun went down up and again and still sat Browncollar beside the dead Limper. A cat or a tomcat went past again and again, in order to state their sympathy. Still another one night and one day passed, but the cat did not leave its place beside Limper. But the life in the wilderness does not permit too long to mourning and opened itself also Browncollar in such a way sometime to look for a new district because here it did not want to be any longer.
It had accepted it on nevertheless under the cats soon to the legend, a fox child instead of, had ensured for it and it had loved like a mother their son. As it died it him had mourned, and in its memory a wake had held. And it lived so long, it to Limper did not forget. Because if a cat into its heart closes someone, then remains for all time in it. The life went and soon continued to give it only very few traps and trapper. Greeneye had followed one unnoticed by them, after it had left clear smell traces to its to the latter set up case. After a very far distance the trapper arrived into a far valley. Which he then saw frightened Greeneye. There a dwelling on a clearing, but not like the sod houses of the Vikings, but many smaller and from trunks was built. Between the split moss had been plugged. Before this hut wood racks were rammed into the ground, between which the furs of many animals were stretched. All kinds of furs he saw there, to raccoon, deer, foxes, but at most beaver. A cat fur did not give it. The man opened a loosely leaned door and went in. After some time it came out again, without closing the door. That was the opportunity for Greeneye to take the inside to the hut in inspection. There were a quiescent camp and a table, as they could do it from the Viking narrations. In addition a round high thing from iron, which let heat feel, as if a fire would burn therein.
On a wall hung a quantity of these traps. But in the rear corner animal furs stacked themselves nearly up to the cover. Greeneye fled before frightening from the hut and hid themselves in the high grass. He did not find a better covering. But it could observe from this place, what continued to happen. The man went again into the hut and began to carry out and tie before the hut to a large bundle the furs stacked there. Then it closed the door and shouldered the enormous fur bundle. Measured step hiked it now on a path, which ran along that of valley. Invisibly green eye followed it. In the evening the man built himself a simple camp from branches. Then it kindled a fire and put in the open air to sleep. Greeneye slept likewise in the proximity, but although it slept, its ears remained watchful, as only the cats can do it.
Early on the next morning the migration still continued and then up to the evening of the following day. In the morning after the man and its invisible companion had arrived in the end the valley. And there Greeneye was offered a magnificent picture. Before it, hem in from meadows and forests a large, broad river lay. In easy meanders the river snaked by the landscape. The season approached already the autumn and leaves on the surrounding hills began itself easily to discolour. Over it a clear sky curved. At most fascinated Greeneye however, which he saw on the river.
There was a ship and there was many humans. The Vikings had returned!
Greeneye felt a joyful excitation in itself ascends and wanted to start to run only immediately and to all cats this joyful message announce.

The journey of the gentle giants – chapter four - the arrival part 3

Then he noticed that somewhat with the old narrations did not agree. The ship was much larger and higher, as if one told, and it had several masts and not only a sail, but many. Greeneye was confused and decided to await for a start. The trapper was walked meanwhile further on the river. Slowly it Greeneye crept afterwards. Now it was no longer far from bank and ducked themselves under an enormous washed ashore root. Were many humans at the bank and Greeneye recognized that strange to say many of it were dressed exactly directly, all red and blue. Were only men, no women. And bang sticks carried a quantity of it.
The trapper negotiated meanwhile with another man and showed it thereby his furs. Greeneye heard the voices. Now despite the many years with the cats at least the sound of the Viking language had kept, but the language of these humans was completely different. Vikings were in no case. Greeneye remained all day long in its hiding place. Driving of these people was completely incomprehensible to it. There were which, stood without each covering completely quietly with its bang sticks. After some time they were replaced from others, which stood there just as quietly then. He heard the voting again and again and recognized that sometimes somewhat repeated itself.
That was for example „atasio “, „misiö “, „leroi “or „vivlafra “. But it knew to begin thereby nothing. On evening the tomcat crept again into the forest back, in order to make something booty, because it had enormous hunger. When it returned in the middle in the night to the river, slept the strangers between large fires, which had kindled them. On the next day he continued to observe. And in such a way it found out by attentive listening that the strangers called themselves as „Frenchmen “and with Vikings nothing at all to do had. Their leader called himself Samuel de Champlain. Actually from there the cats this whole thing could have been all the same, but a great many Frenchmen and there were gave a great many bang sticks and these were afraid them.
Thus Greeneye had urgently to the next meeting place, so that the others experienced, what took place here. The next meeting place lay some days' marches remotely and although Greeneye hurried, it preceded nevertheless slowly, because occasionally it had to get somewhat into the stomach. The message spread fast under the cats and the excitement was large. None knew to begin with the run of the things lately somewhat. There they had waited and now so many summers and winters that. They were helpless. Their friends, the otters could not help them, because everything which these from humans, had they knew from the cats experienced.
Some cats made itself on the way to the river, in order to look for each other there new districts. Thus they could always observe, what the Frenchmen drove. Greeneye, Blackmark, Hisser and still some different would do that. From now on the danger existed that the forest cats were discovered and no longer in secret live could. But the events rushed into now, therefore they had to be received this risk. And, then they hoped, perhaps turned out in the end still everything to the good one. Often the cats met in this time at their meeting points and exchanged themselves with the help of „silence language “ their thoughts. At the next full moon the ship of the Frenchmen had upstream continued to sail. Greeneye and Blackmark had followed the Frenchman and reported all observations.
The cats experienced now also some over the bang sticks. Really only there they were called by the Frenchmen muskets and were to kill on large distance all the same whether humans or animal. The Frenchmen had built houses and had permanently furnished themselves. At night Greeneye between the houses crept. It had left and wanted scratching and smell markings at some houses to now try to penetrate into one of the houses. The doors were not locked and partly only ajar. Greeneye squeezed itself through the crack of the door. It was darkly here, but for Greeneye few light was sufficient that the moon threw. He looked around. At a wall were straw fills, on which two men slept. Several articles were on a table in the center of the area. Sound lot created it Greeneye to spring on the table. Leftovers lay and a cup with a liquid, which smelled in green eye nose terribly. Nevertheless it sniffed at everything, in order to remember the smell. Suddenly one of the men turned rather loud in the sleep. Greeneye frightened, jumped from the table and ran to the door outside. It revoked the cup, which fell with loud crash of the table and smashed on the ground. The men were wide awake immediately and began to cry. A shouting began humans in all houses ran in disorder and to their muskets. Then a shot fell. Greeneye was a piece coagulated and beside a crate in security had brought themselves. The shot brought it finally to run away and in the forest covering search. After this incident the cats approached the Frenchmen only with extreme caution.
In the coming summers and winters changed not much. More and more Frenchmen and the settlement, who were called Almouchaquois, came remained of the forest cats always suspiciously, and unnoticed by the Frenchmen, observes. Also Skaerlingaer dipped, which were called by the Frenchmen Souriquois. They called themselves Mi'kmaq.
Before the winter came, the otters reported that a huge amount of Souriquois marched by the forest toward Almouchaquois. Then the cats experienced a real fight among humans.
They never experienced the reason, but it was possibly again the milk, which the Souriquois could not do and suffer from that it from there became and believed, it would have been poisoned. Many Frenchmen died, but the muskets raged under the Souriquois, and many, a great many remained being dead because of the riverside. Who was not dead, but one shot only injured, by the Frenchmen. In the course of the time some cats had learned to understand the language of the Frenchmen. Not all, much was incomprehensible to them, but they could recognize some. And they passing on in „silence language “to all others.
Thus they experienced that many days' marches from here had arrived different humans, who were called by the Frenchmen Englishmen. And now the Englishmen with the Frenchmen fought. On their meetings the cats puzzled about the reason for these fights, but never they could find it out, although they learned the language of the Englishmen to understand also. They were also very good fighters, but if it had to only be, if they were for instance on the hunt and had made a very large booty. But served then for surviving. The tomcats fought also among themselves, but it always concerned a cat there. If one was the winner, the loser recognized on and it was good. Dead had never given it with such fights.
But which humans made, the forest cats could not understand. Therefore they held out from the affairs of humans, observed themselves and awaited. They would anyway never place themselves on any side. Summers and winters passed and still lived the cats in the forest, until they found one day the dead Souriquois. Toecreep had discovered it, when she controlled her district. The Souriquois did not exhibit an injury, it smelled after illness. It lay simply in such a way on the forest floor. Toecreep did not approach it. In far sheet it ran around it, only then saw it. Its face was covered with black and bloody dents. And it stinks! The cat would avoid this place for long time or would look for themselves another district.
In the following time by the cats, also by many other animals Souriquois were not only discovered again and again, which had died in the same way. But even the carrion eater avoided it to approach the dead. Only the completely tiny, the ants, started working and ensured for the fact that the bodies disappeared. The ants were sometimes annoying, but them by all animals were respected, ensured them nevertheless for the fact that in the forest no illness broke out. And it was also reported that many settlements of the Souriquois were now empty and abandoned. Since in the country only few Souriquois lived, more and more Frenchmen and Englishmen came.

Default The journey of the gentle giants – chapter four - the arrival part 4

The journey of the gentle giants – chapter four - the arrival part 4

The two opponents had everyone a king, like at that time the Vikings king Olav of Norway. But that had lived in far Norway and the Vikings actually for itself freely and only their own thing meeting had at that time been responsible. And there everyone could come and talk, regardless of its position. Even leaders such as Leif Erikson had to justify themselves before the thing and could not simply instructions give, it are, it would be an emergency. But the English king James I. and the French king Louis XIII „le Juste “thought there differently and could instruct despite the enormous distance to England and France directly, what had to happen.
Also that was incomprehensible to the cats. How was it possible that someone gave an instruction or obeyed it? They could do somewhat something similar of the wolf packs, but also with the wolves it concerned eventually only surviving. They conferred on their meetings and decided then together, what is to be done. A cat of another would never give an instruction.
The fights of humans were led with a hardness, which the cats and all other animals shifted in panic. Because there was there the thunderes, those by the fighting cannons was called and those was really terrible. The cats withdrew themselves again more deeply into the forest and observed from the distance. Times the one party had the upper hand, times the other one. And often there were long times, in which nothing happened.
More and more humans came into the country, but not all established themselves in the settlements, because the danger was too large that a settlement was attacked by opposing soldiers. Some pulled into the proximity of the forests where it established themselves and trees fell, so that large free surfaces developed. There they inserted themselves or two houses, held themselves cows or pigs and cultivated, which they needed to the life. That was not simple, because they had arrived only with the most necessary one in this country and the food by vermin had too often been threatened. But not everywhere. On some of these lonely farmsteads these troubles seemed to be smaller and the settlers knew not why like that were.
Because of the fights the forest cats avoided the settlements. But they again and again undertook night excursions by the farmsteads. There it was and stored grain and other food tightened again and again mice, rats and other easily huntable booty. In addition they felt despite everything to humans moved, desired them nevertheless nothing as much as a life as at times of the Vikings, when they were nevertheless free with humans and. Thus it happened one day that Pointedear crept at night into a stable. Cow, one bull and two calves were in it. At a side a heap hay was in that it seductively after mice rustled.
And correctly, after short time it got a fat mouse. A little play was announced now, release, grip, release, grip. The mouse squeaks in fear of death, but then Pointedear bit too. It tore meat breaking into from the small body and spit it on one of its driven out claws. In the course of uncounted years in the wilderness the cats had learned to eat their booty in such a way. This kind to eat made it possible to only examine unknown booty and their meat in order to experience no unpleasant surprise. Only then Pointedear began to eat the meat.
After it was full, she wanted to disappear again in the forest, but in the meantime rain had begun. Now the forest cats shrank from the water not and played even thereby. Because their ancestors had been with the Vikings on the high seas and their friends were often the otters, which often visited them. But the rain splashed very unpleasantly down and became also stronger. Pointedear decided to remain here in the stable and in hay. To fear it had here nothing. Soon it fell asleep. Still before the dawn it was waked through loud thunder. First it thought of the cannons of humans, but when she saw it flashing by the cracks, she knew that it was only one thunderstorm. But in the stable it was here in security.
However the thunderstorm became ever more violently and developed nearly to a little hurricane. The calves became jerky and began to low loud. Suddenly it gave a rattle at the door and this opened. A weak light penetrated and Pointedear recognized the outlines of humans. In its hands it held a container, in which a small flame spread dark light. The man went to the two calves, stroked and calmed her down. Then it looked around. Only now it recognized Pointedear, which had ducked itself in hay in the flickering light of its lamp.
The man kneels down and Pointedear felt that he did not want it anything bad. He looked the cat surprised on and lit up her from all sides.
For a long time it looked at it in such a way and somewhat familiar constructed itself between it and the cat. Then he rose slowly and left the stable. Outside still the thunderstorm raved, therefore Pointedear remained in the stable. Only on the next morning, when the thunderstorm had become distorted, it dared in the free. Later it visited some days again the farmstead and then ever more frequently. Finally it remained completely there. The farmer could not do it in the meantime well and had anything against the fact that it remained. It had regarded it, when he saw her for the first time in the stable, as one of these importunate raccoons and it out to drive to want. Only on the second view it had recognized that he had a cat before itself.
Its name was William McGalham and it came from Scotland. It had a woman, Deborah, and two children, Silas and Maggy, who had to however often help on the field. The children so often played it could with Pointedear and gave its final name Missy. Missy went more frequently to one of the meeting points and reported, where it was and was issued there like it now. Thus it came that more and more the forest cats in scatters lying farmsteads went and with humans remained. And humans gave them names, how the Vikings had done it in old time.
Nobody knew, where they came, but was them seen gladly, was it nevertheless very skillful mouse hunters. Also they got over the hard winters in the country without damage.
The farmers and their families were surprised that cats of a so impressive size had a so quiet voice, but they accepted this circumstance simply and analyzed it not.
And there they despite their size, strength and tenacity were very attached and humans turned, gave those to them the surnames „the gentle giants “. It was, as if Leif Erikson would have whispered to them by the depths of the time that they became so called already of the Vikings at that time.
Finite they were again with humans, who respected them. The farmers had to do enough to manage their fields and could about the cats worry not in such a way, as in old times the Vikings, but they respected and estimated them. And the cats loved it to be again with humans. But the farms lay far from each other remotely, and to the next settlement it was a far way. It came again and again to wars between Englishmen and Frenchmen, therefore not all cats might have gone to humans. Into the settlements anyway nobody went from them, because they were afraid the muskets and cannons, therefore knew humans there very little or nothing from them.

The journey of the gentle giants – chapter four - the arrival part 5

One day was from something new the speech. Humans called it „Massachusetts Bay Colony “
and made a good deal waiving over it. But the cats did not understand this excitement, because for them nothing changed. The time passed, Missy, in addition, William and Silas were for a long time dead. The family had its graves outside at the edge of the woods. The farm belonged now to Ebenezer McGalham, Silas great-grandson. Three cats lived also there, all descendant of Missy, namely Roamer, Lilly and Mary. All were large and strong it and them enjoyed the life with humans and loved them much. Roamer often accompanied Ebenezer on the fields, which had become rather large over the years.
Ebenezer did not have cows more, it cultivated on its fields corn, which was sold in the autumn. Only some pigs held it, but those were not sold, but were not slaughtered each year one. In this time the wars between Englishmen and Frenchmen had stopped, but gave it rumors over another war. The cats heard the term again and again „continental army “. Which an army was, they had in the time, in which they lived in this country, sorrowfully experienced must, but they could not interpret the term for „continental“. Frequently also another name fell: George Washington. Since they to some extent were however on the scattered farms in security, it did not care them, as long as it did not concern it.
But their experience taught it be always watchful when such changes. One day was Roamer with Ebenezer and its son Mathew on the fields, when a rider in fast gallop tore loud calling over the fields. It curbed its horse directly before Ebenezer and talked on it. The tomcat felt that Ebenezer made a very joyful report for the foreigner. He did not only understand anything, so fast talked the foreigner. Only slowly it found out that for humans and concomitantly for the cats very much had changed. Something had done humans, which they called „a state established “.
Naturally neither Roamer had, still another cat a notion, which a state was, but Roamer found that this state was nearly catful, anyhow gave it no more king out, who could instruct someone somewhat. The country in that it lived, belonged to this state, which was called Massachusetts. The cats took to the knowledge and returned again to its everyday life occupation. Still many of them in the forests and they lived the settlements avoided, found them still no correct homeland there. Those would only find it if humans gave a name to their whole kinship. Their number was small, but it became completely slow more.
And if there were a throw of them on a farm again, they were not chased away by the farmers or killed, but brought in with them on the horse and carriage sometimes or two day's journeys up to the next settlement on the market. Because under the farmers these by then unknown cats were very popular and on the markets for a young kitten a good price were often paid, because many wanted the gentle giants on their farms. But the people in the few cities wanted to have something do hardly with them and called them contemptuous farmer cats.
Thus everything had settled down and many years seemed it that it would remain always in such a way. Hardly a cat still lived in the forest, although they met there still at the old meeting points and exchanged in „silence language “their thoughts.
And despite all contrariety and changes they held for far friendship with the otters.
In this time humans in the cities began to talk from Missouri to. Which was exactly meant with Missouri, the cats did not know, them experienced however that was the name of a river and also a state, far, far in the south and in the west. But which river and state, particularly since one, which so far away was that one would need years to do in order to run there, with the country and should have here humans, did not understand them not and actually was it them all the same. But since they had been always watchful and also further would be, they listened always attentively, if humans talked.
Because obviously one big day was approaching. Humans in the cities prepared large celebrations before and some farmers put on their Sundays clothes and made themselves on the way there. Also Ebenezer McGalham made itself with his Mrs. Susan and the sons Abraham and Fitzgerald on the way. The tomcat Hellpaw, a grandchild of Roamer, and the cat Flower, which had bring along Ebenezer of a visit with a friendly farmer, accompanied it on the carriage, as they did it more frequently. Ebenezer had carried bread for itself and its family as well as dried meat forward for the cats as provisions for the travel. The two horses could let it graze everywhere. Since they cultivated corn on their farm and no cows to supply had, they could stay away some time. The pigs were in a corral and could from there some days be alone-let.
After two days they arrived in the city. Many humans had met to multicolored driving and the cats did not come out from being astonished, something like that could do them not. But the whole frightened it not, in addition they were much too curious. Everywhere banners were attached and even over the road curious in the colors red, white and blue. The largest flag showed red and white strips and on a blue field of twenty-three white stars. Only as loud music, withdrew themselves Hellpaw and Flower between two houses into the protection of some crates and barrels was played. The music was then nevertheless too much for sensitive cat ears. Also different animals were main in the city, horses and mules, in addition, chickens ran over the road and at some distance some few dogs. But the gentle giants did not make themselves anything from it and came in such a way it to no controversy with the dogs. Around midday humans in the center of the city at a free space met.
Hellpaw and Flower had returned recently again to the carriage and it on it had made themselves cosy. Ebenezer had regained it there and had taken both on the arm. Thus they stood on the place and waited, what would happen.
The music had stopped and everything was quiet. Men in willful clothes rose to a landing. One gave a speech, afterwards a further flag was hoisted. It was blue, showed a farmer and a sailor, between them jaws, before which a moose lay.
And in such a way the forest cats experienced, like after the human time calculation to 15. March of the year 1820 Massachusetts was divided and that far distant northern part, in which the cats in the forest and on scattered farms lived, when own state was proclaimed. And this new state got a name: Maine.

Default How you can Spot a Fake Louis Vuitton Shoes

As with all other designer brand purses you have to know the hardware of the brand. For example, it best to discover out if the product have a date code, ought to it have one and the place within the purse if it does, what the particular model is supposed to be lined in, whether or not it should have ft, if it ought to have a d-ring inside and where. For instance in the event you find a Speedy LV with a lining other than a brownish cotton canvas lining, it best to question its authenticity as a result of the lining of a Fake Louis Vuitton Shoes Speedy has by no means got here with different linings than the browning cotton talked about above. Additionally a Fake Louis Vuitton Shoes or handbag has never been made with a brown suede lining, even within the vintage pieces. Test the zipper and zipper pulls, purse snaps, buckles and other hardware yow will discover on the purse, all of them ought to have the LV branded on them. The Zipper pulls must be brass hardware and heavy to the touch and feel.
