Hey Tracie, Try putting your cats back on the food you had them on before, and put some Apple Cider Vinegar in their water; say maybe a capful per 2-3 cups. Most vets won't recommend this little known trick, but it is the build up of urinary calci that causes UTI, and adding something that can control the build up (ie, something acidic, but not harmful) will help control the issue, and also prevent it in your other cat. You can also simply give your other cat vitamin C daily, as that will give him the necassary acid needed to prevent the calci build up. Just a little 'trick' from a goat breeder-yep that's right a goat breeder; we also had a feline who had recurring issues with UTI, and we decided that if it worked on our male goats, who also have issues in the uti department, and need extra acid to prevent urinary calci, we should try it on our cat, and it did, and he hasn't had a problem in 8 years! |
