Last winter during a bad snow storm a stray cat snuck by me coming in the door, starving and cold. She soon adopted us as hers and we love her. She is the first cat that I have ever had so here is the problem. She had kittens 5 weeks ago and is still nursing. She has put weight on in the last week and I am afraid she is pregnant again. Is this possible? Please help me on this subject.

Sometimes cats put on weight suddenly after kittens...
But... 5 weeks is a very long time...
It depends on these things.
How many kittens does she have?
Did some\any of them die?
Are you caring for them alot?
Is there a male near you who has acess to her?

Please tell me these things and I'll tell you then.

Thank You for her reply. She had 4 kittens, 2 males and 2 females. They are are all alive and well. Two of the kittens are all black and the other two are black with white markings on feet, face, & bellies. My cat is all silver/gray. We call her Smokey. We have not named the kittens yet. She cares for them all by herself. Lately we have seen the cat we believe to be the father hanging around (all black with white on his nose and feet).
Smokey is an outdoor cat and does not use a litter box. She lets us know when she need to go out. So I guess yoiu can say, Yes, he has access to her. I hope I answered all your questions. Please help.

Did she lose weight when she had the kittens...
Then gained the weight?
Because if answer is ''Yes''
Then It's probbly not kittens.
But answer the 2 questions then I'll be certain.
